Work Faster with WordPress Content using Better Internal Link Search (Video)

Better Internal Link Search

Better Internal Link Search is a WordPress plugin that helps you work faster in WordPress by making it easier and faster to find, and link to, content.

If you work in WordPress on sites with a lot of content, no doubt you’ve experienced the frustration of searching for a post or page in the WordPress Dashboard only to get a ton of search results that aren’t relevant.

Same thing happens when you use WordPress’s built-in Insert/edit Link tool to link to existing content.

By default, WordPress internal search returns results that contain your search term in the title and/or content, and they’re not presented in the most relevant order.

Better Internal Link Search to the rescue!  It improves the built-in WordPress search functions so when you look for WordPress pages, posts, or other content it only returns results with your search term in the title.

There are a bunch of other easy functions for finding and linking to content on external sites too, including:

  • WordPress Codex
  • WordPress Plugin Directory
  • Wikipedia
  • GitHub (also GitHub Gists)
  • Spotify
  • and more . . .

Also, if you’re a developer, you can extend the plugin to add your own search sources – how about that?

I absolutely can’t live without this plugin. Finding posts & articles on sites that have been adding content for years can be a giant pain. This plugin solves that problem for me completely.

      I know!

I figure Better Internal Link Search saves me between 1 to 10 seconds each time I query for a page, post, link, etc.

While that may not sound like much, it really adds up when you’re working on a site for days, weeks, months, or longer.

Plus, you just feel powerful being able to locate stuff so easily right from within the WordPress Dashboard.

Thanks for the great screencast and overview, Eric. It covers the plugin much better than I could just writing about it and lets folks know where it comes in handy.

I’m glad to hear you and Marty find it useful. Be sure to let me know if there’s anything else y’all think it should do.

      My pleasure, Brady. :)

Thanks for your hard work and I’ll let you know if I come up with any “great ideas.”
