Development Standards
Testing
All new development sites are tested with the most recent versions of Internet Explorer (IE), Firefox, Chrome, and Safari on Mac, PC & Linux. We follow Google’s lead on supported browsers, which means whenever a new browser version comes out, we start supporting that version and stop supporting the third most recent version. Usability
We’ll take great care to engineer the entire site, including graphics, navigation, layout, content and fonts in an orderly and logical manner to help the user easily find the information that they are looking for and take appropriate calls-to-action.
We’re not afraid to tell you when a certain great idea will interfere with usability, as the most important thing is that your customers are able to find what they need on your site.
Accessibility
The site will be designed to make it accessible to the widest audience possible, including users who visit using non-standard browsers, such as screen readers (for the visually impaired).
The site will be accessible by Mac, Linux and PC platforms and by iOS6 and Android based browsers.
Maintainability
We’ll use Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to facilitate editing and brand standards. Site structure will be developed to facilitate modifications in the future, for example including text-based (versus image-based) navigation, headers and sub-headers.
Markup
Search engine-friendly, semantic HTML markup that validates against W3C HTML5 specifications. Table-less, optimized CSS that validates against W3C CSS3 specifications. Compatible with A-Grade browsers.
Search Engine Optimization
WordPress is a terrific platform for creating a search engine-friendly site. We take great care to engineer all pages, templates and code for maximum search engine effectiveness.
